East-West Rail Track Update

Untitled design (7)

Major service disruptions continue on the East-West rail track as a result of the recent “one in 200 year” South Australian rainfall event.

However, Pacific National is pleased to announce the track will
reopen on 15 February.

It is expected that high priority demand coupled with volume challenges will be experienced until services are stabilized.

To enable better support to all customers once the rail track opens, Pacific National will align priorities and source additional capacity where possible to get services back to normal as soon as possible.

To keep freight moving, the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications has introduced exemptions to the Coastal Trading (Revitalising Australian Shipping) Act 2012, effectively allowing coastal shipping unrestricted access to Western Australian ports until 31 March 2022, with priority given to essential goods whilst repairs are completed and service the backlog.
