Patrick Terminals Introduction of a Weight Amendment Fee at East Swanson Dock
From 4 October 2021, Patrick Terminals will introduce a Weight Amendment Fee at East Swanson Dock.
This new weighing solution, “Pondus Stand”, has already been implemented in Brisbane, April 2021, and its aim is to identify discrepancies in mis-declared weights by sampling containers and notifying customers, which allows for better SOLAS (Safety of Life Seas Convention), road transport obligations and a safer more accurate supply chain.
The fee is suggested to be AUD$230.00 +gst per container that has been identified to have a weight variance of one metric tonne within the documented weight.
A final notice regarding industry feedback is required 30 days prior to the commencement date of the fee.
We await to see how the industry responds at a time of already increased costs and shipping delays.
