DAFF Document Assessment Processing Delays
There is a renewed spike once again in turnaround times for the clearance and release of import shipments subject to Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) document assessment processing.
To mitigate DAFF’s inability to meet service standards and avoid delays to the clearance of goods, FJT prioritizes lodgement of documents well in advance of arrival wherever possible. However, there are scenarios where supplier’s documentation is missing, deemed invalid or inaccurate, resulting in unanticipated delays for everyone.
During periods where consignments have tight clearance timeframes, FJT will act reasonably using discretion and request DAFF to assess the documents outside normal business hours to prevent potential delays.
Document assessment outside normal business hours attracts an additional DAFF processing fee of $110, however this is a far better option than fees relating to missed timeslots, wharf storage, underbond movement, and additional cartage to approved arrangement depots whilst pending release from biosecurity.
Please don’t hesitate to contact your FJT representative if your require further information or clarification.
