Welcome to our November News Brief.
Dear Friends,
Finally, after more than 24 months it has been possible to visit our office in Italy.
It has been with very different feelings to take the plane in quite an empty airport and to see how one of the busiest connecting airports was like a regional airport, very few people and planes at the gate.
I had the opportunity to visit, for the first time, our new Italian office and the staff working what it seems like effortlessly, with extreme pressure and difficulties during the pandemic period.
It has been a great pleasure to be in position to start again to travel and to see people face to face.
Now it is the time to try revisiting and organizing what the impossibility of travel has stopped us from doing, with the help of everyone at FJT Logistics.

FJT Brisbane Branch Approved for Quarantine & Fumigation
Our Brisbane branch has been approved under the Dep't of Agriculture Approved Arrangement Scheme, and able to offer:
• On-site Biosecurity activities
• On-site inspections of biosecurity risk cargo
• Fumigation
• On-site treatment for FCL & LCL cargo utilising both Methyl Bromide & Sulfuryl fluoride
MUA Withdraws Industrial Action At Patrick Terminals
All Industrial Action has been withdrawn from Patrick Terminals
• Patrick Terminals applied to the Fair Work Commission to terminate all industrial action due to the significant economic harm caused MUA actions
• It has been a long time period of disruptions at Patrick Terminals and finally there is some reprieve, with no further action to be notified before 10 December 2021
• The focus now is for the terminals to return promptly to schedule to support an economic recovery
New Pondus Weighing Solution at Patrick Terminals Sydney
From 17 January 2022, Patrick Terminals will introduce a Weight Amendment Fee at Sydney AutoStrad
This “Pondus Stand” weighing solution, already implemented in Brisbane and Melbourne this year
aims to identify discrepancies in mis-declared weights by sampling containers and notifying customers.
The fee is AUD$230.00 +gst per container that has been identified to have a weight variance of one metric tonne within the documented weight.
It does not apply to importers & exporters who accurately declare container weights
ACCC Shipping Industry Report Released: Some Points Of Interest
The Focus of the Initial ACCC Investigation was the Australian Port Stevedoring industry, delays, costs and profits of Stevedoring companies.
• Australian Importers & Exporters are struggling to get vessel space
• Global ocean freight rates on key trade routes are 7-8 times higher in last 12 months
• Some shipping lines losing patience with the Australian destination market
• Privatization and automation models of key stevedores are changing the landscape
Planning for End of Year Holiday Period
We are moving towards the end of 2021, and for many customers it is time to plan for potential cargo arrivals/receivals over the End of Year holiday period.

Revised Tariff - 60 Days Notice for Stevedore Landside Charges due to intended berth works to extend current quay line, investing $139 Million in the project.
