And that family spirit was palpable at the Livorno office – the home of FJT Logistics Director Alessandro D’Orto and his sister Barbara D’Orto, who serves as the Italian Board of Directors representative.
 
Barbara welcomed me with a warm hug, Italian biscotti, and coffee upon arrival. She became tearful when asked about her sons Lorenzo and Edoardo Checcacci, who head different FJT divisions in Australia. Clearly proud of their success since their move to the big land down under, Barbara couldn’t help but express the longing every mother feels for her sons.
 
Barbara also shared her excitement about the company’s growth, which includes expansion into Greece, Italy, and other Mediterranean regions – marking an exciting new chapter for FJT Logistics.
 
Facilitated by Pier Luigi Cavicchi, FJT Logistics Non-Executive Director, my visit was as smooth as could be. Despite booking a train ticket from Florence to Livorno in broken Italian mistakenly for a different date, I hopped on the train, risking the journey knowing I’d be taken care of by the FJT team.
 
My first trip to Italy couldn’t have been a better experience. Despite the similarities between my own Croatian heritage, I also felt at home because I had met the FJT Italy team – conducting seven interviews in person and remotely with other Italy branch managers, in one day.
