China Ports Operations Update
China continues its fight to contain another COVID-19 wave
Shanghai has been locked down for well over a month now. Major ports in the Greater China area remain open and vessel operation, terminal handling and gate-in/gate-out are largely working to normal operational capacity. In Shanghai there is still significant disruption to local and inter-provincial trucking operations due to extensive COVID-19 testing and quarantine requirements.
Some warehouses in Shanghai re-opened from mid-April but many offices located in Shanghai remain closed. Warehouses remain operational at other ports including Ningbo, Shenzhen, Qingdao, and Xiamen although there are local restrictions on truck drivers which is mainly focused on the need for a negative NAT report within 24 hours.
It remains essential that importers and exporters plan their supply chains well in advance taking into consideration additional delays currently being incurred within sea freight environment.
